A Wi-Fi failure puts millions of devices worldwide at risk!

A flaw in the WiFi chip has left millions of devices exposed to potential hacker attacks. This vulnerability affects more than a billion mobile phones, assistants and computers connected to the Internet, including Apple's iPhone and Amazon's Echo.

It affects devices with WiFi chips made by Cypress Semiconductor and Broadcom, used in a wide range of wireless Internet-enabled devices, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Amazon Echos and Kindles, Android devices, Raspberry Pi 3 and WiFi routers Asus and Huawei.

What this flaw causes is that an affected device's network communication is encrypted with an encryption key composed of zeros, making it really easy for hackers to decrypt network packets sent wirelessly.

The good news, however, is that software updates and other layers of security will likely prevent this attack from having catastrophic results.

Manufacturers have made patches available for most or all of the affected devices, but it is unclear how many devices have the patches installed.

For this reason, the best advice to avoid an attack is to make sure that our computers, phones and all devices connected to the Internet have the latest version of software and firmware.
