Lenovo has officially opened the doors of the first in-house manufacturing plant in Europe thus expanding its international manufacturing operations. The investment represents significant economic potential for the public and private sectors in Hungary, with more production capacity, more potential for collaboration with local suppliers and the creation of new vacancies. The site already employs more than 1,000 full-time employees in a variety of engineering, administration and operations roles, and the number continues to grow as the facility moves toward full capacity.
The factory is primarily focused on building high-end server infrastructure, storage systems and PC workstations used by customers throughout the EMEA region.
The Hungary facility is part of Lenovo's global manufacturing and supply chain strategy that serves customers in 180 markets from more than 35 manufacturing sites worldwide, including Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, Mexico and the US Lenovo is widely recognized for its global hybrid manufacturing model that includes a combination of in-house and contract manufacturing. A key source of competitive advantage for the company is providing greater efficiency and control over product development and supply chain operations, enabling it to respond to customer needs more effectively.
