Intended for some of our customers, especially those who still have versions of the older generations of Power Systems (AS400), and who find the S814 model too much for their needs, IBM has announced the S812 with a single core.
This system is more competitively priced than the S814, although it is a little more limited in terms of performance.
It does not allow partition creation, and more limited I/O options.
But apart from that and in the same way as the S814 model, it is positioned at the P05 level, and will become a very natural replacement for owners of POWER7 or POWER6 machines.
This S812 model will also feature the recently released IBM i 7.3 and is scheduled for official launch on March 17, 2017.
